#5. J.K. Simmons as J. Jonah Jameson
When bringing comic-book material to the big screen, changes are regularly made to give certain elements a more realistic feel. However, one of the finest examples of a character being played exactly as written can be seen in Sam Raimi’s original Spider-Man trilogy. J. K. Simmons’ portrayal of Peter Parker’s Daily Bugle boss J. Jonah Jameson perfectly walks the fine line between experienced businessman and propaganda-fuelling pantomime villain. Played with confidence and gusto, Simmons stole every scene he featured in and was certainly missed during Marc Webb’s recent reboot. Comic relief at its very best.
