#4. Sir Ian McKellen as Magneto
When X-Men was released way back in the year 2000 to both critical and commercial acclaim, a variety of new faces found themselves thrust towards instant stardom. However, the presence of theatre-veteran Sir Ian McKellen undoubtedly was a real highlight of the prejudice-themed picture for many. As arguably the most layered villain role to come out of the Marvel film canon, McKellen elevates every scene he appears in with his electric chemistry with both Sir Patrick Stewart and Hugh Jackman. The subsequent sequels allowed for significant character development, with McKellen perfectly balancing the metal-manipulator’s consequentialist outlook of both ambition and revenge.
