#5. Gone with the Wind – 3 Hours and 58 Minutes
Fifth place is often the most difficult position to fill when compiling these lists. A line has to be drawn somewhere, and unfortunately it means ruling out other worthy pieces of cinema that could just as easily place upon this list. So placing at number five is the longest film on this list. Clocking in at an arse-numbing 238 minutes, Victor Fleming’s classic Oscar-winning war-time romance story is simply an astonishing achievement of storytelling. I am a firm believer that a film can be any length as long as it is good enough to keep you in your seat, and the consistency of Gone with the Wind just proves this theory correct with a solid level of entertainment to be enjoyed over four hours on a lazy Sunday afternoon.
