#1. The Godfather: Part II – 3 Hours and 20 Minutes
There certainly is not a lot to be said on my choice for the greatest cinematic epic in history that has not already been said. Effortlessly overlapping story threads in compelling and enthralling fashion, Francis Ford Coppola’s gangster epic is everything that any sequel (or prequel for that matter) should aspire to be. This is one of those films where each scene seems to better its predecessor with the progression of both Michael Corleone’s growing crime-empire and Vito Corleone’s flashback scenes of his rise to power perfectly balancing a captivating narrative that never becomes muddled or convoluted despite its extended running time. A wonderful follow-up to what was already considered a cinematic classic, The Godfather: Part II tops my list of all-time epics without a moment’s hesitation.
So do you agree with my ramblings or feel that I have left out an obvious classic epic?
