#3. Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street
Musicals are always divisive. Some people will dismiss them before giving them a chance while others embrace the idea of a story being told through song. Personally, I find Sweeney Todd to be stunning. Strikingly original, inventive and gothic, it represents much of what it means to watch a Tim Burton film. Depp is clearly having a ball in the lead role, wearing his heart on his sleeve as he slices his way towards vengeance in this shockingly violent and genuinely horrific film. I’m disappointed to have missed this one in the cinema.
